Daniel Ableser is a resident of Windsor, Ontario and has practiced law since his call to the bar in 2011. Daniel holds a BA (Hons.) from the University of Windsor (Political Science) and an LL.B. from the University of Ottawa.

Daniel has appeared before all levels of court in the Province of Ontario as well as multiple boards and tribunals. Prior to joining Handysides Patterson Law Firm, Daniel worked for a full service firm in Windsor practicing family law, civil litigation and municipal law for 15 years. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Daniel worked for the City of Windsor Building & Development Department and for Elections Canada.

Daniel practices in all areas of family law including parenting issues, child support and spousal support disputes, equalization and division of matrimonial property, trust claims and property division for unmarried individuals, and family law issues for the owners or former spouses of owner-operated businesses. Daniel approaches each case with a view to resolution through negotiation and mediation to resolve the issues arising out of the breakdown of a relationship, while litigating cases when necessary.

Daniel serves on the University of Windsor Board of Governors as an appointee of the Province of Ontario and as a Director of YQG – Windsor International Airport as an appointee of the City of Windsor. Daniel previously served on the City of Windsor International Relations Committee, as a Director of the Essex Law Association and as Vice Chair of the Windsor-Essex Community Benefits Coalition.

In his spare time, Daniel enjoys travelling, having travelled to 60 countries and counting. He has published a number of columns in newspapers across Canada and is a frequent invited guest to discuss political and legal issues on the radio, television and in print. Daniel enjoys politics and trivia as well as watching a variety of sports attentively and playing them poorly.
